The Jade: A modular platform

If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that there is no one size fits all.

The Jade is designed to be relevant no matter your needs, which means it’s flexible, easy to work on, and modular. Each component of the Jade is a stand alone product.

Primary components, like the Juicebox power system, the Booth Benches and the Steelhead Galley, can be removed quickly with no tools.

  • Open up space for utility

  • Redesign with your dynamic life

  • Move your investments from one van to the next

What does Modular mean?

Cabinets are light and designed to mount quickly and come out easily.

On the cabinet side:

  • Thumb screws mean it’s hassle free to unbolt. No tools required

  • Easy to access brackets with bidirectional slots means you can micro-adjust your position as needed.

  • Quick Connect electrical means it unplugs. No more redoing hardwired assemblies.

    • Modular plug-in components: Juicebox, Galley, Benches, Bed Supports and Wall Panels

On the Floor side:
How you build your floor will dictate how you integrate

  • 3/4 Plywood Subfloor holds machine screw inserts. It’s the same way Dometic keeps its AC on the roof. This is our favorite way to anchor, and you can request a free anchoring kit with your DIY purchase.

  • Ltrack - if you have integrated floor track, you may need to move the bracket on the component upon install, then the benefits are the same

  • Thin floor / composite floor: The no-brainer install is to through bolt, but that may involve dropping a gas or water tank, takes two people, and certainly does not align with modularity.
    >>Some Options:

    • Add T-Nuts from below your floor. This is ideally done prior to building your floor, and means you must ahve a good idea of where your components will go. It lets components be removable, but not really modular.

    • Flush mount L-track or T-track. We do this as a service without removing your floor.

FAQ: Should I be mounting cabinets to the floor and wall? Isn’t that safer?

The short answer is yes, it’s always safer to have more anchor points.
To dive in a little more — it depends how tall, how top heavy, and how good your anchors are on the ground. The Juicebox, for instance, has a low center of gravity and is just fine anchored to the floor. The Steelhead Standard Galley is taller with a sink up high. It’s still ok anchored to just the floor. But feel free to add at least one Thumb Screw up high on the inside where you can get a rivnut into the wall. If you prefer the easy way out, put a drywall screw through your wall panels and bite into some sheet metal. Remember, it’s a backup.

Flex Space - We know how useful it is to flex your space, so pull those benches out when you are filling the back with plywood, or pull it all out when you are moving into your new house and don’t want to rent a Uhaul.

Add-ons and redesign - Your needs change as you grow. Modular makes it easy.

It’s never been so easy to add windows, rearrange your galley, or add a shower. We designed the Jade to be easy for us to build, which also makes it easy for you to build.

DIY - Go ahead and install your battery system to check your wiring and do some test adventuring. When you go back to do your walls or add something, you won’t have to undo and redo all your work.

Protected Value - In the less likely event of a theft, a total loss accident, or an impounded vehicle, you will retain more value by having “loose products” then you will having those products screwed down. Make sure you discuss renter/homeowner insurance with your insurance agent (especially if you Vanlife full time!)
